Diponegoro University’s (UNDIP) Vocational School commemorated its 8th anniversary with a Scientific Oration themed “Strengthening Vocational Education Towards Downstreaming and Innovation to Achieve Sustainable Food Security”. Held at the Prof. Soedarto, SH Building, this event emphasized UNDIP’s strategic role in vocational education to support sustainable development, particularly in the food security sector.

The event commenced with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., Rector of Diponegoro University, who highlighted the vital role of vocational education in fostering innovation and downstreaming in various industries.

The keynote speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nur, DEA., Professor of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, UNDIP. He shared his insights on leveraging vocational education innovations to tackle future challenges in food security.

The scientific oration also featured sharing sessions with prominent figures, including:

  • Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono, M.Si., Dean of the Vocational School, Diponegoro University, who discussed the strategic role of vocational education in producing globally competitive human resources.
  • Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Herman Saputro, S.Pd., M.Pd., M.T., Dean of the Vocational School, Sebelas Maret University, who shared experiences on fostering inter-university vocational collaboration.
  • Prof. Dr. Ing. Agus Maryono, IPM, ASEAN.Eng., Dean of the Vocational School, Gadjah Mada University, who presented strategies for integrating innovation into vocational curriculums.

The alumni sharing session featured inspiring speakers:

  • Dr. Saiful Bahri, SE, MM, CRGP, Director of Currency and Security Solution at Peruri, who shared practical experiences from the professional world.
  • Mada Ayu Habsari, Chairperson of the Indonesian Solar Energy Association (AESI), who emphasized the importance of alumni networks in supporting vocational education advancements.
