Semarang, June 4, 2025 – Students from the Accounting Taxation program at Diponegoro University recently conducted a Company Visit to the Cooperatives and UMKM Office of Semarang City. This activity is part of the “Sahabat UMKM” program, which aims to provide students with a deeper understanding of the development and challenges faced by UMKM (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in Semarang City.
The event featured competent speakers, including Mr. Muhamad Syahrul Apriliyanto, S.Pd., who presented various programs supporting UMKM in Semarang, while Ms. Dwi Palupi Novitasari, S.Pd., the First Expert Cooperative Supervisor at the Cooperatives and UMKM Office, opened the event with a speech that provided a clear overview of the role of the Cooperatives and UMKM Office in assisting small business owners, from licensing to access to capital.
During the event, the Accounting and Taxation students had the rare opportunity to hear directly from the Cooperatives and UMKM Office representatives. The discussions on various programs supporting UMKM, such as business mentoring and access to capital, were extremely beneficial in providing new insights for the students. Moreover, understanding the role of UMKM in the local economy further enriched their perspectives.
“Through this activity, we hope that the Sahabat UMKM students and members of the Sahabat UMKM Internship Program can gain a broader understanding of UMKM development in Semarang City. We want students to gain a deeper understanding of how the Cooperatives and UMKM Office supports business owners in this city,” said Mr. Ibnu Muttaqin, S.Pd., M.Si., the Supervisor of Sahabat UMKM.
This event aims not only to provide theoretical knowledge but also to offer practical experience that students can apply when assisting UMKM in the future. With a better understanding of the challenges faced by small business owners, students are expected to play an active role in supporting UMKM development, thus making a positive impact on the local economy.
The Sahabat UMKM program is expected to be a stepping stone for students to become more involved in the development of UMKM and to understand the role they can play in the business world. Through this program, students not only gain academic knowledge but also practical skills that will be valuable in their professional careers.
