Rara Tyas Ghanniiya, a Tax Accounting Program Study student from the Vocational School of Universitas Diponegoro, participated in the Diversity Voyage 2025 program which lasted for six days in Ubud, Bali. This program offers an extraordinary experience that combines learning about cultural diversity, international collaboration, and sustainable business practices. Here is Rara’s journey during the program:
Day One: Team Building Activities
The program began with team building activities designed to introduce participants to each other and build cooperation within the group. Rara and other participants, who came from Japan and Indonesia with various backgrounds, got to know each other through a series of interactive activities that tested communication, collaboration, and creativity skills. These activities not only increased closeness between participants but also prepared them for the next challenges in the program.
Day Two: Workshop by Earth Company and Storytelling
On the second day, Rara participated in a workshop held by Earth Company, an organization that focuses on sustainability and social change. This workshop provided in-depth insights into how sustainable businesses can play a role in creating a positive impact on society and the environment. Rara also listened to an inspiring storytelling session about real experiences in running a sustainable business. This session opened her eyes to the importance of running a business by considering social and environmental aspects.
Day Three: Diversity Walk
The third day was filled with Diversity Walk activities that took participants to explore Ubud, Bali, while contemplating the meaning of diversity in a local and global context. Rara felt very fortunate to be able to interact with other participants on this trip, enriching her views on environmental and social issues around Ubud Bali. After the session of walking around and observing the conditions around Ubud, Participants were asked to analyze environmental and social issues that might occur around them to encourage project preparation.
Day Four: Group Dialogue
On the fourth day, participants who had been divided into several groups were assigned to work on a joint project that aimed to overcome the challenges of diversity and sustainability. Rara worked with students from Japan, sharing ideas and solutions to social problems that were relevant to the program theme. The formation of this group taught Rara the importance of cross-cultural collaboration in creating greater change.
Day Five: Making Progress Reports and Preparing Presentations
The fifth day was an important moment for each group to compile a progress report that summarized the results of their work over the previous few days. Rara and her team compiled a report on the solutions they developed related to diversity and sustainability issues. They also prepared a presentation to be delivered on the last day of the program. This process taught Rara the importance of planning, working as a team, and preparing to speak in public.
Day Six: Presentation, Completing Ceremony, and Farewell Dinner
On the last day, Rara and her group presented their work to other participants and mentors. This presentation was the culmination of their journey during the program, where each group shared their innovative ideas on creating a more inclusive and sustainable world. After the presentations were completed, the event continued with a completing ceremony to mark the end of the program, followed by a lively farewell dinner. Rara felt very grateful for this opportunity, which had given her valuable insights and experiences that she will remember throughout her life.
Through the Diversity Voyage program, Rara not only learned about cultural diversity, but also developed international collaboration skills, increased her understanding of sustainability, and built a global network that will support her academic and professional journey in the future. This program provided Rara with invaluable experience in shaping a better and more inclusive future for all.
