Semarang, June 10, 2025 – The Community Service (PkM) Team from the Tax Accounting Study Program, Vocational School of Diponegoro University, held a community service activity themed Financial Literacy and Investment Awareness Education. This initiative aimed to enhance students’ understanding of personal financial management and the importance of investing from an early age. Through this program, students were introduced to the basic concepts of financial literacy and learned how to use securities applications to explore various investment instruments. The educational activity lasted for approximately 120 minutes and consisted of a presentation session, hands-on financial management practice, and a discussion and Q&A session. The event featured Siti Noor Aini, SE., M.Sc, a lecturer from the Tax Accounting Study Program, who is experienced in financial and investment practices. The materials delivered covered topics such as personal finance management, saving strategies, and selecting investment instruments that align with individual risk profiles. Low-risk investment instruments such as gold, sukuk, and time deposits were introduced as ways to increase the value of money safely. In addition to the presentation, students participated in a practical budgeting session using their daily allowance. The speaker also emphasized the importance of financial awareness and encouraged students to use the internet wisely and responsibly. They were advised to obtain financial information only from trusted websites and social media platforms. The session also warned students about financial scams, online gambling, and promises of unrealistically high returns, which must be approached with caution.

The students responded enthusiastically to the activity, with many expressing increased confidence in managing their finances and a newfound interest in investing. The Head of the Marketing Study Program at SMK Palebon expressed appreciation for the program and highlighted the importance of strengthening financial literacy so that students are better prepared to face future economic challenges. He also emphasized the crucial role of schools in equipping students with practical knowledge beneficial for their lives.

At the conclusion of the community service program, it is hoped that SMK Palebon students will apply the knowledge gained in their daily lives and become financially literate young individuals. Programs like this also serve as strategic steps to support Indonesia’s efforts in building an investment-savvy and digitally literate society.
