The Opening Ceremony of the Tax Volunteers Program Officially Launched: UNDIP Vocational School Demonstrates Its Commitment to Public Service and Student Innovation

Semarang, February 06 2026 – The Tax Accounting Study Program, Vocational School of Diponegoro University (UNDIP), officially held the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Tax Volunteers Program, which was conducted in conjunction with the launching of the CoreVTC application. The event took place at the 4th Floor Meeting Room of the Vocational School Dean’s Building, UNDIP Tembalang Campus, and marked the commencement of tax reporting services provided by the Vocational School UNDIP Tax Volunteers for lecturers, educational staff within UNDIP, as well as the surrounding community.

In his remarks, the Dean of the Vocational School of UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono, M.Si., expressed his appreciation and pride in the readiness and commitment demonstrated by the Tax Volunteers. He emphasized that the role of tax volunteers is not limited to assisting with administrative aspects of tax reporting, but also represents the tangible presence of state public services within the higher education environment.

“Tax Volunteers are a representation of public service by the state at UNDIP. Therefore, integrity, professionalism, and empathy must always be upheld in every form of service,” stressed the Dean of the Vocational School of Diponegoro University.

Furthermore, Prof. Budiyono highlighted that character building serves as the primary foundation in delivering public services. Values such as integrity, professionalism, and empathy must be internalized by students when assisting taxpayers. This activity is also part of the implementation of practice-based learning approaches, including project-based learning, problem-based learning, and case study learning, which provide students with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in addressing real taxation issues in the field. He added that such experience would offer long-term benefits, both during their academic studies and after graduation when entering the workforce.

The highlight of the opening ceremony was marked by the official inauguration of the 2026 Tax Volunteers by faculty leaders together with the Head of the Tax Accounting Study Program. This procession symbolized the beginning of students’ active involvement in supporting tax education and assistance for the community. The event then continued with the official launch of the “CoreVTC” simulation application, as part of efforts to strengthen the digital transformation of the Vocational Tax Corner.

The CoreVTC application is a web-based taxation ecosystem developed to support the integrated management of activities, education, and tax services. The application was designed by Muhammad Syauqal Afwika R, a student of the Tax Accounting Study Program at the Vocational School of UNDIP, as a form of innovative student contribution in delivering technological solutions in the field of taxation. This innovation received positive appreciation from university leaders and event participants, as it is considered capable of supporting technology-based learning while strengthening the role of the Teaching Factory of the Vocational Tax Corner (VTC) as an adaptive and innovative tax service laboratory.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Tax Accounting Study Program, Mr Apip, S.E., M.Si., also expressed his pride in the students’ achievements and the enthusiasm of the tax volunteers. According to him, the implementation of the Tax Volunteers Program and the development of the CoreVTC application demonstrate that vocational students not only possess strong technical competencies, but are also able to provide tangible solutions that benefit the wider community.

“This is a source of pride for us. The presence of Tax Volunteers and student innovations such as CoreVTC show that the learning process at the Vocational School has a real impact and is aligned with the needs of society,” stated Mr. Apip.

Through this activity, the Tax Accounting Study Program of the Vocational School of UNDIP reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the institution’s reputation through the provision of professional and integrity-driven public services. The Tax Volunteers are expected to serve as the frontline of tax education and assistance within the university environment and the surrounding community, while also becoming a model for contextual and sustainable vocational learning.
